Jrue Holiday Says The Bucks Can Beat The Lakers If He And Giannis Defend LeBron James And Anthony Davis

3 Min Read

Jrue Holiday is very confident in the Milwaukee Bucks this season. The team has struggled to make the leap in the past couple of seasons, getting eliminated in the playoffs despite having the Most Valuable Player of the league.

They made some good additions in the offseason, including Holiday, who believes they are in the right place to win it all this campaign. During a recent interview on JJ Redick’s ‘The Old Man and the Three’ podcast, Holiday talked about a variety of topics, including Stephen Curry’s shooting ability, but he also threw some flowers to his team and their chances to win the NBA title this season.

He specifically talked about the Bucks’ chances to beat the Los Angeles Lakers in a hypothetical NBA Finals, saying that he and Giannis Antetokounmpo can stop LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

“I remember when we played against the Lakers, I started on LeBron [James], Giannis might’ve started on AD. I’m like, oh yeah, we’re straight. If we need to switch up or do whatever, we really can. And I know these are great players and all that, but like, confidence-wise I’m like, we’re good.”

That first game was lost by the Bucks but Holiday felt really good about his team’s chances to compete against the purple and gold. They added PJ Tucker in March and that’s a move that will help them in the postseason.

“Very confident that every game I feel like we should win… I have never done this before, I’m playing 25 minutes and sitting out the whole floor… every night, defensively, oh we’re good.”

The competition will be really hard for them, starting with the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets in the East. If they make it to the Finals, teams like the Lakers, Clippers, Jazz and Nuggets will present another big challenge for Milwaukee but Holiday knows their roster can do the job.

Giannis Antetokounmpo keeps playing great, he has a great point guard in Holiday and role players that have been great for the Bucks. If they keep things going, we could see this team doing important things this campaign.
