Kevin Durant put on a stellar performance to lead the Phoenix Suns to a 130-126 win over the Dallas Mavericks, including hitting what was the game-winning shot.

This was Durant’s first game against Kyrie Irving since their Nets’ partnership ended in February. KD wasn’t lost in emotions on the court and said precisely that after the game.

“No emotions at all. It’s another game. Like I told someone earlier, for most of my career I played against Kyrie. Last couple of seasons he was on my team but for the majority of my career, I played against him, so I know how it feels.”

Kevin Durant scored 37 in the win, nicely complemented by Devin Booker scoring 36. Kyrie Irving had 30 points as Luka Doncic chipped in with 34 in a game where the stars delivered. Booker would even get into confrontations with Doncic and Irving after the game.

Kevin Durant Raising Expectations In Phoenix

Adding Kevin Durant has lived up to the hype as the Suns are yet to lose since adding him. They are starting to run away with the fourth seed in the West and could soon begin to challenge the Sacramento Kings in third.

The Suns have been title contenders for 2 seasons already, and adding Durant is going to make every season they play with him championship or bust.

Durant’s ability to effortlessly score really helped Phoenix close out this game, as Dallas was looking strong even with inefficient shooting nights from Doncic and Irving. KD’s game-winner over Tim Hardaway Jr. is what sealed the win and is proving to the world that the Suns finally have a late-game scorer that can close out games when winning matters the most.
