Kyle Kuzma has declined his $13 million player option to become a free agent, reports say. NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski took to Twitter to report the development.
“ESPN Sources: As expected, Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma has declined his $13 million player option and become a free agent. Kuzma will be one of the marketplace’s most prominent players. A return to Washington on a new deal remains a possibility.”

It doesn’t come as a surprise that Kuzma opted out. With Bradley Beal traded to the Phoenix Suns, the Wizards are all set to enter into a rebuild and Kuzma’s talents will now see multiple suitors looking to add him to their ranks.
At the time of writing, the Indiana Pacers, Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Lakers, and Utah Jazz are looked at as potential landing spots for the former NBA champion.
Earlier, Yahoo! Sports’ Jake Fischer pegged Indiana and Houston as the teams that would heavily pursue Kuzma. “You can chalk up Kuzma as another forward who’s being connected of late to both Indiana and Houston as a potential free-agent target,” he wrote.
Kuzma spent two seasons with Washington averaging 19.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 3.6 assists. This season, he propped up 21.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists from 64 games. It should be worth noting that a Wizards return is on the cards, but it’s highly unlikely that he will spend more time in D.C.
After spending four seasons with the Lakers, Kuzma reinvented himself with the Wizards and has made a case for himself as a bonafide starter who is effective on both ends of the floor.
