The basketball world was buzzing when news came out that LeBron James was making his return to the Drew League and when it emerged that Kyrie Irving would also be playing, the excitement levels went up through the roof.

While James mesmerized the audience with an amazing display, Kyrie failed to show up for the game and he did so without giving anyone an update. That would come across as a very typical move on the part of Irving, considering all that we have heard about the way he has been acting behind the scenes in Brooklyn, but we now might know the reason for why he didn’t show up.

That is a nice gesture, no doubt, and the kids present at the camp would have loved to have Kyrie around to teach them about the game. What raised some eyebrows was that it was Lakers coach Phil Handy’s basketball camp and unless you have been living under a rock for the past month, you know why that’s significant.

By all indications, Irving is said to have expressed his desire to be traded to the Lakers, and this only adds more fuel to the fire. A fan at a LA Sparks game also claimed to have heard Irving say that he will play for the Lakers very soon and by the looks of it, he is making it clearer day by day that he wants to be in Los Angeles. There have been some recent reports indicating that he wants to stay in Brooklyn, but those seem to be off the mark.

We had thought that all the drama surrounding Kyrie was done for this offseason at least when he opted into his player option with the Nets, but this one has been probably the most chaotic offseason of all involving the star guard.
