LeBron James’ postgame comments after the Los Angeles Lakers’ 112-98 loss to the Miami Heat sent social media into a tizzy.

The veteran was the driving force for the side again, pouring 27 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists, but it wasn’t enough to stop the likes of Jimmy Butler (27 points) and Bam Adebayo (23 points) to close out the game in their favor.

Speaking to the media in the aftermath of the loss, James was vocal about his approach to the game while also applying ample pressure on the front office to help bolster the average roster with names that would make them playoff contenders at the very least.

“I don’t wanna finish my career playing at this level from a team aspect,” said James after the game. “I still want to compete for championships. I know what I can bring to any ball club with the right pieces. I’m a winner and I want to win. And I want to win and give myself a chance to win and still compete for championships,”

“That has always been my passion, that has always been my goal since I entered the league as an 18-year-old kid out of Akron, Ohio. And I know it takes steps to get there, but once you get there and know how to get there, playing basketball at this level just to be playing basketball is not in my DNA. It’s not in my DNA anymore. So, we’ll see what happens and see how fresh my mind stays over the next couple years.”

This had fans debating if James would leave the Lakers after the end of this season. The 37-year-old inked a two-year deal with the franchise but cannot be traded till February 2023.

NBA Fans React To LeBron James’ Future With The Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers’ best chance of making the postseason or even transforming the side into becoming a win-now unit is to blow it up and ship some of their present pieces to get players who serve as good fits alongside James and Anthony Davis.

With the latter ruled out indefinitely following his stress fracture, there’s even more dilemma in the Lakers’ camp to see how they can best approach the trade window. What remains to be seen is how they will fulfill the promise they made James about giving him the squad that can take the side the distance.

The Lakers’ front office will have their work cut out for them if they intend to keep one of the greatest players in NBA history to suit up for them. On the game front, the side will play the Atlanta Hawks next, followed by another clash against the Charlotte Hornets.
