The NBA has made a decision on the Dallas Mavericks after the Texan team made some questionable moves in their final two games of the 2022-23 regular season.

After resting several starters, the league launched an investigation and today revealed the decision of fining the Mavs $750,000.

“The Dallas Mavericks’ decision to restrict key players from fully participating in an elimination game last Friday against Chicago undermined the integrity of our sport. The Mavericks’ actions failed our fans and our league,” Joe Dumars said in a statement.

This isn’t the most flattering situation for the Dallas Mavericks, who didn’t have the best season when they aspired to compete for championships, especially after landing Kyrie Irving. They played with the rules and decided to lose crucial games ahead of the play-in, which opened the door for a higher draft pick.

However, the league didn’t like any of that, and they started investigating the reasons behind this decision, ultimately fining the Mavericks. Jason Kidd admitted that his bosses wanted to lose the game against the Chicago Bulls, and Mark Cuban’s behavior on the sidelines only confirmed that.

Now, the team is ready to make some big moves in the offseason and bring the right pieces to build around Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving if the latter decides to stay in Dallas.

The Mavericks Have Been Linked With Several Stars Around The League

With their season finished, now the front office is getting ready to target some players that can add quality to this squad. Some names have been mentioned as potential candidates to join the match, starting with Deandre Ayton. However, to go for the center, the Mavs need to keep Kyrie Irving on the roster.

Another player that could make his way to Dallas is Trae Young in a proposed sign-and-trade involving Irving, too. This offseason is huge for Dallas, and they know that. Doncic has stated he’s happy with the Mavs, but even the most loyal players get tired of losing every season.
