Derrick Rose was once an MVP-level player with the Chicago Bulls, but he is now a solid veteran point guard who suits up for the New York Knicks. Though he played a key role for the team during their 2021 playoff push, he has seen his playing time reduce over the last few seasons.

It was previously that the New York Knicks would be willing to move Derrick Rose in a trade ahead of this year’s deadline. NBA insider Marc Stein has recently provided an update on the situation, claiming that the Knicks are still ready to move him, but only if they can “do right” by the veteran and send him to a good situation.

One more Knicks item: Sources say that New York is open to finding a new home via trade for former MVP Derrick Rose but only if it can, as one insider put it, “do right by” the longtime Thibodeau favorite. Rose’s role has been reduced sharply this season with the likes of Quickley, Quentin Grimes and Miles McBride emerging.

Doing right by Derrick Rose likely means sending him to a situation where he could realistically compete for a championship. The New York Knicks are a solid team, but it is clear that they aren’t close to winning it all. Hopefully, we see Derrick Rose go to a good landing spot if he gets moved and play good minutes on an elite team.

The Miami Heat Have Interest In Derrick Rose

The Miami Heat are a team that has had an interest in Derrick Rose. Reportedly, that is due to their concerns about Kyle Lowry’s durability, and Derrick Rose would definitely be a great stopgap option if Lowry is ever injured.

For the Knicks, his presence was greatly missed last season as he only appeared in 26 games due to injuries. Going into this season, it looked like he was going to be playing a bit more, but he’s only appeared in 25 games and only averages 13 minutes a game when he does play. Despite that, he could be a good fit for the Heat due to the concerns over aging guard Kyle Lowry.

“Miami is a team to look at there, they’re not confident that Kyle Lowry will be healthy in the playoffs, and they’ve had interest in Rose before,” the executive told Deveney.

As of right now, the Miami Heat have a number of talented players on the roster, but it is clear that they need more offense. Derrick Rose would certainly help them in that regard, and he could be a valuable player coming off the bench and providing a spark.

Hopefully, we see Derrick Rose head over to the Miami Heat prior to the trade deadline. There’s no doubt that he could be a difference-maker for them, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
