Patrick Beverley made the decision to head back home to Chicago, and he was looking for some advice with regard to playing for one’s hometown team.

Luckily for him, his former teammate LeBron James has all the experience in the world when it comes to that and gave him some valuable advice.

“I talked to LeBron, who’s my big brother,” said Beverley, “And I asked him a lot of questions, ‘How was it playing home?’ The biggest thing he told me, prioritize your job, which is basketball, and have everything else come after that. I just try to do that since I’ve been back.”

While it is great to play in your hometown, there definitely is some additional pressure that comes with it. LeBron knows that better than anybody else, thanks to his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and he was the perfect person to consult with on this. Beverley’s Bulls debut went just about as well as he could have hoped too, as they crushed the Brooklyn Nets 131-87. He had a solid game with 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists and it would appear he is also pushing the right buttons to get his teammates going.

Patrick Beverley Had A Message For Zach LaVine

The Bulls were hoping that Beverley would bring some ferocity to the court and to the locker room when they signed him, and he seems to be doing just that. Immediately on his arrival, he bluntly told Zach LaVine to just stick to scoring and not bother about passing the ball.

The results? Well, LaVine had 32 points in under 29 minutes of action against the Nets while dishing out just 2 assists. The message is getting across, but it remains to be seen if the team is really back on track. There will be tougher challenges up ahead, like the Los Angeles Lakers, for example, whom they face twice. While Beverley does consider LeBron to be his big brother, he is keen to beat the Lakers twice to knock them out of the playoff race in what would be ultimate redemption for him.
