Chris “Lethal Shooter” Matthews never made it to the NBA, but that hasn’t stopped him from making a mark in the basketball world. He is one of the more sought-after shooting coaches in the game today and has worked with celebrities like Drake as well.
Matthews was a teammate of Kevin Durant back in high school and, after playing basketball overseas, decided to get into coaching, where he has enjoyed tremendous success. He has also become an internet sensation by performing different kinds of shooting challenges, and he was at it again recently.
He had previously attempted shots at the world’s smallest rim and showed his shooting skills on ‘The Deflator’, and his latest challenge was shooting the ball while being 12 feet underwater.
That is really quite impressive from Matthews, and it is great to see him trying out these different challenges. He is apparently using a whetball here, which allows you to dribble underwater. Safe to say, everyone is eagerly awaiting to see what challenges he might take up next.
Could We See Chris Matthews In The 3-Point Contest?
There have been many who have wondered why Matthews isn’t in the NBA, considering how good of a shooter he is. Injuries are what ended up derailing his professional career overseas, and he is now truly content in this new coaching role of his.
There is one NBA opportunity he would like, though, and that is to take part in the 3-point contest during All-Star weekend. He had sent a letter to NBA commissioner Adam Silver last year, asking to be a part of the contest as a wildcard entrant. Ultimately, it never happened, but the NBA has always been willing to try out different things, and perhaps we will one day see him take part in the contest.
