The 2023 Finals MVP is enjoying a well-earned offseason as Nikola Jokic finally got over the hump and led the Denver Nuggets to their first championship in franchise history.

Jokic was itching to start his offseason minutes after the Nuggets won the title. He went back to Serbia to enjoy time with his horses but is clearly having fun wherever he goes. A video of him jumping off a boat into a pond while doing a front flip shows the light-hearted spirit Jokic is operating with now.

Watching a seven-footer effortlessly pull out a front flip is insane to watch, but Jokic is arguably the best basketball player in the world right now. High-level athletes often surprise everyone with their ability.

Jokic averaged 30.0 points, 13.5 rebounds, and 9.5 assists in the playoffs to lead the Nuggets to a championship. He should enjoy his summer because as soon as training camp starts, they have to begin their championship defense.

Nuggets With A Subpar Offseason

The Nuggets are built around a core of four players. Jokic, Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr., and Aaron Gordon are a part of the team now and should remain on the roster for the foreseeable future. However, the Nuggets don’t have the depth around them as they did last season.

The team lost Bruce Brown and Jeff Green in free agency, with the team electing to offer $5 million to Reggie Jackson instead of Green. Jackson was out of the rotation for Denver in the playoffs, while Green was a crucial bench piece. They had no way of retaining Brown, so that departure can’t be blamed on them.

Hopefully, young players like Christian Braun and Peyton Watson can give the Nuggets serious minutes this season, as Denver needs to find ways to reinforce its bench before the summer is over.
