LeBron James is watching the Lakers’ offseason go smoothly as they re-signed all their major free agents while making some stellar addition through free agency.
LeBron shared a collage of players who are either joining or returning to the squad this offseason with a time-turner, implying he’s waiting for the new group to hit the floor together.

The Lakers picked up the team option on Jarred Vanderbilt’s contract and re-signed D’Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves, and Rui Hachimura out of free agency. They replaced the outgoing Dennis Schroder by signing Heat point guard Gabe Vincent, along with reinforcements on the win in Taurean Prince and Cam Reddish. They also addressed their backup center needs by signing Jaxson Hayes.
The Lakers now have a well-rounded roster that could make noise next season. LeBron looks ready to return despite retirement speculation after their Western Conference Finals loss to the Nuggets.
Are The New-Look Lakers Contenders?
The Lakers have only one goal with LeBron and Anthony Davis on the roster. That goal is to win the title and these moves get the Lakers one step closer to that goal. What’s amazing is that it also gives the team enough assets to either go all-in once again for a disgruntled star in February or withstand LeBron and Davis possibly leaving next summer as free agents.
Nothing can be said until we hit the court, especially with the changes we’ve seen in Phoenix and Golden State already. If James Harden gets moved to the Clippers, they start looking like big threats in the West again. Next season is shaping up to be just as fascinating as 2022-23 and the Lakers are going into it with a realistic path to being crowned champions next season.
