Superstar Damian Lillard has requested a trade, and it seems as though his favored destination is the Miami Heat. However, there may end up some complications, as the Trail Blazers don’t necessarily value Tyler Herro, who would be the centerpiece of any deal.
A recent report from Ian Begley of SNY revealed that the Brooklyn Nets are a team that could help facilitate Damian Lillard getting moved to the Miami Heat, by taking on Tyler Herro. The Nets are reportedly “open to the idea” of getting the shooting guard.
“The trade talks surrounding Lillard will continue on Sunday. Late Saturday afternoon, the Nets were contacted as a potential third team in a trade that would have sent Lillard to Miami. I don’t know if talks progressed, but the Nets would have received Tyler Herro as a third team in the trade. They presumably would have also received draft picks for helping to facilitate the deal.
It’s unclear which Nets players were discussed as part of the three-team trade and if Brooklyn had any other stipulations for completing a deal. But as of Saturday evening, the Nets were, at least, open to the idea of a trade that landed Herro in Brooklyn.”
Tyler Herro would definitely be a quality acquisition for the Brooklyn Nets. He fits the timelines of Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson, and he would give the Nets steady guard play next to their wings.
During the regular season, Tyler Herro averaged 20.1 PPG, 5.4 RPG, and 4.2 APG while shooting 37.8% from 3PT range. He is clearly a good player, and it’d be interesting to see how he would do in Brooklyn.
Teams Are Scared Of Damian Lillard Joining The Miami Heat
There is no doubt that Damian Lillard teaming up with Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler would create an insane big 3. In fact, a previous report revealed that rival teams are scared of Lillard potentially moving to the Heat.
“Zach Lowe, on ESPN, just now mentioned he got texts from couple people who work for good teams in East and theme is ‘God dammit.. they think he’s coming to Miami… thinking how are we going to deal with that big three ?’ (if Blazers accommodate him),” Heat reporter Barry Jackson wrote in the wake of the Lillard trade request.
Hopefully, we do see Damian Lillard end up on the Heat. He deserves to be on a contending team at this point of his career, and we’ll see what ends up happening in the future.
