The Phoenix Suns have done their roster construction early in the offseason, filling out their 15 roster spots by aggressively recruiting players getting minimums, and getting some of the best available options.

After the signing of Eric Gordon, fans wondered if the new Suns’ roster is a superteam.

One fan lamented another superteam with Kevin Durant on it.

Despite the progress, fans think this team cannot compete with the Lakers.

A fan thinks Eric Gordon off the bench is going to make their scoring incredibly lethal.

They have a strong roster whose success will be tied to the health of their three main offensive weapons in Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal. The starting five will likely feature the three along with Josh Okogie and Deandre Ayton, creating a well-balanced lineup that will ask a lot out of Okogie and Ayton on the defensive end.

Drew Eubanks is a good backup center that plays defense-first basketball and Keita Bates-Diop is a 3-and-D option, though his production is inconsistent. Chimezie Metu is a solid stretch big man that can close games and give them impactful minutes.

Are The Suns Favorites In The West?

The Phoenix Suns will head into next season as one of the favorites to compete for the title due to their top-heavy squad and relatively solid depth behind them. Injuries will rule their season, as they need their top stars to remain healthy to be competitive. Durant hasn’t been healthy throughout a season in years, while Beal and Booker both missed a lot of games last season.

The Lakers and Nuggets are the only two complete rosters in the West, though Denver has been dealt some heavy blows with the departures of Bruce Brown and Jeff Green. They still have a young core that now has a title under their belt, so beating them will not be easy next season.

The Lakers have added a lot of wing depth behind LeBron James while replacing Dennis Schroder with Gabe Vincent. They brought back all their major free agents and are going to be a tough out for teams like the Suns, who don’t have the depth required to have a strong 82-game campaign. Ultimately, it’s the final 16 wins that matter, and Phoenix looks exceedingly deadly in that situation.
