The NBA has been trying to find ways to curb load management and incentivize players to play more games, and they finally found a solution recently.

Players must play a minimum of 65 games to be eligible for awards as per the new CBA, and it is safe to say the new rule is quite unpopular. Kyle Kuzma blasted it on Twitter after seeing Kevin Durant’s incredible stats for the season.

“But sure let’s leave him off All-NBA because he didn’t play 65 games lol.”

Durant finished the season averaging 29.1 PPG while shooting 56.0% from the field, 40.4% from beyond the arc, and 91.9% from the line. He played in only 47 games, however, and would be ineligible for any award or All-NBA honors next season if he plays the same amount of games in 2023-24.

KD himself called out the NBA for this 65-game rule when an analyst pointed out how efficient he has been this season. Draymond Green also blasted the league for this rule, as he feels some undeserving player would get All-NBA honors because of it. He thinks it’s eventually the owners who would have a big issue with it, as these players could then ask for max or supermax contracts.

Kyle Kuzma Believes Kevin Durant Has Had One Of The Greatest Seasons He Has Ever Seen

Kuzma has seen a fair bit of basketball in his lifetime but thinks what he has seen from Durant this season is something truly special. He stated that Durant has had one of the greatest seasons he has ever seen, thanks to his efficiency.

If KD hadn’t left the Brooklyn Nets and had played a lot more this season, then he certainly would have been a part of the MVP race. Durant, however, had said earlier this season that he doesn’t care about being in that conversation and that those accolades don’t mean much to him at this stage of his career. He just wants to win a championship and does have a pretty good shot at it this season.
