The Charlotte Hornets waited until the last moment to pick between Brandon Miller and Scoot Henderson with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.

Miller reportedly impressed Michael Jordan during his private workout, and the GOAT seemingly made the final decision on this pick. After the pick was announced, general manager Mitch Kupchak was asked about this decision, and he gave a cloudy response.

“Well, everything that we… Every answer we got to every question,” Kupchak says. “I would say, he is a freshman, right? So he’s a little bit, I would say younger than…excuse me I wouldn’t even say younger — Nah, I better not even go in that direction actually. I’ll just back off.”

This was an odd response from Kupchak, who didn’t look completely focused on the question or what was happening around him. Out of Alabama, Miller is a forward that can mesh well with LaMelo Ball and add another dynamic scorer to the Hornets squad.

Miller was involved in controversies regarding a gun used to commit a homicide back in January. He wasn’t charged or punished by Alabama over this situation, and many thought this would hurt his position in the draft.

Fortunately, things were different for Miller, and he’s set to join the Hornets that will try to compete for a playoff spot soon. During his time with Alabama, Miller posted 18.8 PPG, 8.2 RPG, and 2.1 APG while shooting 38.4% from the 3PT range.

Fans Roasted Michael Jordan After Picking Brandon Miller

Even though he showed good things during his time in college, this selection didn’t convince fans, who are roasting Michael Jordan over the pick. Having Scoot Henderson available, they didn’t think it was right to go with Miller.

Even the team’s mascot look disappointed after learning the Hornets picked Miller. Still, Jordan seems to be very high on Miller. He made his final draft selection as the team’s owner and now the new management will have to work with whatever player Brandon turns out to be.

The criticism seems a little unfair. He has to prove his value in the league, but everybody else has to. Victor Wembanyama, Scoot Henderson, the Thompson twins. They’re all in the same position now, regardless of the hype around them.

Miller posted good numbers in Bama, and the Hornets can work with him and LaMelo Ball together now. This can be a great pick for Charlotte, but it’s true that their history doesn’t make fans believe that they made the right decision. It’s up to Miller to prove doubters wrong and lead this team to compete for important things.
