The Lakers are 10–4, but the part that keeps leaking out every few days isn’t a stat or a highlight. It’s the chemistry. Clips from practices, locker rooms, and walkthroughs keep showing a group that looks relaxed, loud, and fully connected. The latest moment came from a practice session media event where Rui Hachimura decided to roast Luka Doncic.

While reporters huddled to interview Luka, Luka suddenly yelled from off camera: “RUI! RUI!”

Rui looked confused as to why Luka is calling his name. And then he didn’t waste time trolling the Slovenian superstar.

“Luka is crazy. Why is he calling my name? What does he want? … He never went to school, you know that, right?”

It was a perfect jab. Luka signed with Real Madrid as a kid and never followed a normal school route, and Rui leaned right into it. And the clip spread fast across social media as it looked like a group that was having fun.

This isn’t a one-off. It has been happening nonstop.

A few days ago, Luka joked that he speaks it better than Rui or Austin Reaves, even though Rui spent years at Gonzaga and Reaves grew up in Arkansas.

Then came Jake LaRavia’s missed lob in Milwaukee. Reaves put it right on the rim, and LaRavia botched it. The Lakers’ bench did not waste a second as rookie Adou Thiero delivered the line that went viral almost instantly.

“Make your dunks, bum.”

Reaves added:

“No more lobs.”

A simple mistake turned into a running joke, and the team laughed their way through the postgame.

Little things like this don’t happen on stiff teams. They happen in groups that feel comfortable.

And that comfort is translating to the court. Luka is putting up MVP numbers. Reaves is sitting in the top-10 scoring range. Rui is having one of the sharpest shooting starts of his career. The spacing looks better. The ball movement looks cleaner. The trust looks real.

LeBron James is expected back soon, and that will only strengthen everything they’ve already built. Until then, the formula stays simple.

Play hard. Talk trash. Keep laughing.

And if Luka starts yelling your name out of nowhere, you’d better be ready. Rui clearly is.
