Jordan Poole can qualify as an integral piece of the Warriors dynasty despite his short tenure on the franchise. He was crucial in the 2022 Playoffs as the Warriors won the title. Off-court issues ruined his time with the franchise, as the Warriors moved him away for Chris Paul. Even with the acrimonious end to his tenure in Golden State, his former coach Steve Kerr is excited to see him return to the Chase Center.
“Well number one I’m excited for him because I know our fans are going to give him an enormous ovation. And he deserves that. He’s a champion. We don’t win that championship without Jordan.”

Kerr isn’t wrong. Poole averaged 17.0 points with great efficiency in the 2022 Playoffs and was one of the best sixth men in the league. Even though he became a 20-point scorer over the 2022-23 regular season, he flatlined in the playoffs and had to be moved. Given Draymond Green punched him before the season even started, the signs were there that he wasn’t meshing in the locker room.
He hasn’t recaptured the good form of his Warriors days on the Washington Wizards just yet. He’s averaging 17.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists, facing regular criticism for having a poor attitude, making low-IQ plays, and being immature.
Kevin Garnett Doesn’t Think Poole Learned Good Habits In Golden State
The Wizards are among the worst teams in the NBA this season, boasting a record of xxx and the 14th seed in the East. Many expected that to happen but with Poole shining similar to what James Harden did when he moved to the Rockets.
People have dismissed Poole’s ability to lead a franchise, with Kevin Garnett blasting him for not learning anything with the Warriors and being unfit to be an NBA player.
“This is what you learned in Golden State? Them n****s don’t act like professionals. They got your ass out of there because you couldn’t fall in line. N****s like this do not belong in the league. He doesn’t belong in the league as the head of a team. I don’t want my son with a n****a like that. You see how he talks to his teammates? ‘Shut up my n***a, this is my team, I got this.’ You can say whatever you want about me, I never disrespected the game and the position of being a leader.”
That is quite harsh from Garnett, but he’s one of the most respected voices in the game. If someone like KG has said something this negative against you, it’d be smart to do some introspection and correct what people think. Players like to claim they don’t care about what analysts have to say, but Garnett is a Hall of Famer, which has to sting.
Poole is young and has his future under his control. If he can start playing the right way and lead the Wizards, he could become a prized guard in the NBA once again. This season can be written off as an adjustment year, but only if Poole lives up to his potential, as compared to being discarded by one of the worst teams in the NBA because he’s not good enough.
