Stephen Curry is one of the game’s greatest scorers and the best shooter we have ever seen in NBA history. A strong shooter and all-time great player, Curry has won 4 NBA championships and currently has a career scoring average of 24.4 PPG. Even though Curry is a special individual talent, he is well-versed in NBA history and recently came up with his all-time starting lineup that (rather unsurprisingly) consisted of himself at the point guard position.

“I’m at PG, I’m going with Magic, we’ll play hybrid guards,” Curry said. “You got Jordan, you got Dirk spacing the floor, shooting the ball, and you got the big man, the Diesel, holding it down. So, that’s a solid lineup, I think.”

We have seen many superstar players list their all-time lists, and it always creates a ton of conversation. Remember, we looked at how a created lineup could take on LeBron James’ chosen team. It is never easy to select opponents, but it must be done.

Back to the greatest shooter ever, Curry selected Hall of Famers Magic Johnson in the backcourt alongside him, Michael Jordan as the small forward, and legends Dirk Nowitzki and Shaquille O’Neal at the remaining frontcourt spots. Considering the floor-spacing, passing, and defense around a dominant center down low, it is obvious that Stephen Curry’s all-time team would be tough to beat in a series. There might be a team that could take on Steph’s squad in a 7-game series, and it will also consist of 5 Hall of Fame talents that could do it on both ends of the floor.

In order to combat Curry’s team, a mix of scorers, defenders, and dominant physical specimens will need to be chosen. Without further ado, here is the FW Team that would take on Curry’s squad in an all-time great series matchup.

Fadeaway World’s All-Time Team: LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Larry Bird, Kevin Durant, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Stephen Curry’s All-Time Team: Stephen Curry, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Dirk Nowitzki, Shaquille O’Neal

LeBron James vs. Stephen Curry

LeBron James vs. Stephen Curry

LeBron James is a greater all-around player than almost every NBA player ever, and there isn’t any dispute about that. The King is a better playmaker than Curry and will use his IQ and also his physical gifts to control the pace of the game. Knowing Stephen Curry and Magic Johnson are the primary ball-handler across from him, James must be the point guard of his team because nobody does it better than he does for his side.

Stephen Curry is the greatest shooter ever and will be responsible for spacing the floor as much as possible. While the matchup of LeBron vs. Curry looks to favor The King, it won’t be easy for James to follow Curry up and around the court all game. In many instances, Steph will be open from three because he will lose James more than a few times. With Shaq down low, Curry’s shooting will be a necessity.

Kobe Bryant vs. Magic Johnson

Kobe Bryant vs. Magic Johnson

In one of the premier matchups, Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson will go head-to-head. Kobe Bryant will not be willing to take a backseat in this series because he knows the opponents will be coming right for him. Rather, Bryant will take the game from the scruff of the neck and attack as soon as he receives the ball. His battles across the court from Magic and Jordan will be iconic to watch, and Kobe will have some clutch moments as well.

Magic Johnson, the greatest floor general of all time, will take his game to 100% against legendary Lakers guard Kobe Bryant. Johnson always has his best moments against other top stars and will relish the challenge of countering Kobe and leading the break for his side. Even when playing with 4 other stars, Magic knows this is his team to lead with the ball in his hands. Johnson will have an unselfish series, averaging 12 APG to go along with his 14 PPG.

Larry Bird vs. Michael Jordan

Larry Bird vs. Michael Jordan

Larry Bird is a Hall of Famer because he knew how to win games, and he will have a spectacular series. Bolstered by the presence of four other superstars, Bird can let the game come to him and will do a splendid job knocking down shots, crashing the boards, and being a passer. Larry Legend will also have his moments to close games, which he will do.

Michael Jordan’s job is to score and put pressure on Larry Bird, things he will do throughout the series. The presence of Magic Johnson will greatly benefit Jordan’s game because he will find space to shoot and find himself in a position to score in the post. A strong scorer, Michael will have a very solid series and will lead his team in scoring.

Kevin Durant vs. Dirk Nowitzki

Kevin Durant vs. Dirk Nowitzki

Kevin Durant is more slender than Dirk, but his impact will come in his scoring and two-way play on the perimeter. Durant relishes challenges against slower players and will take the battle to one of the greatest power forwards ever. KD will also have some critical clutch plays throughout the series because his shooting efficiency is undeniably great.

Meanwhile, Dirk Nowitzki might be the best shooting big man of all time. The lanky German is not a powerhouse on a physical level, but he can take Durant in the post and let loose his patented (and unblockable) one-legged fadeaway. KD will struggle to defend Dirk’s fadeaway, although he will make the German feel it on the other end. Overall, this matchup will be somewhat even.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar vs. Shaquille O’Neal

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar vs. Shaquille O’Neal

Even though Kareem Abdul-Jabar is slightly quicker and more skilled in the post than Shaq, he will exhaust himself trying to fortify the paint against a dominant, opposing big man. Kareem will utilize his post moves throughout the series, aiming to stun Shaq at times through the patented sky hook shot. The legendary scorer won’t make life easy for Shaq defensively as well, using length and basketball IQ to bother him.

Shaquille O’Neal does not make the game look pretty like his teammates do, but that is not his job. Shaq will focus on dominating down low, using force and strength to punish his defender and cause havoc in the paint. His battles with Kareem in the paint will be painfully memorable and create some highlight moments throughout a 7-game series.

Team Fadeaway Advantages

Team Fadeaway World has the advantage of having four versatile perimeter players who can dominate the inside and create shots for each other. With Kareem down low, LeBron, Kobe, Bird, and Durant can all do damage from the outside and can create offense singlehandedly. Not to mention, they are extremely versatile and can switch onto opposing players very easily.

With this kind of versatility, Team FW can play lockdown defense through switching and can also space the floor. Stephen Curry’s all-time team has some legendary talent, but they cannot be as versatile on both ends of the floor as the opposition. Not to mention, Team FW has a few guys (Larry Bird, Kobe Bryant, and Kevin Durant) who are dominant in the clutch. On more than one occasion, the clutch stars will come through.

Team Stephen Curry Advantages

Curry’s all-time starting lineup has the most dominant physical specimen in NBA history in Shaquille O’Neal down low, meaning the Diesel can hold the paint completely while the shooters space the floor. Specifically, Curry’s team is rather large, excluding the point guard himself, obviously.

Magic is an oversized guard, Dirk and Shaq are two 7-footers, and Jordan stands at a respectable 6’6”. Having Dirk and Shaq means length and post-defense will be slightly better than the opposition, especially when Magic crashes the boards in order to push the fast break. Overall, Shaq and the size around him will be a massive factor for Curry’s all-time team.

Who Wins A Best-Of-7 Series?

Game 1 goes to Team Fadeaway World, who find their offense through Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant. Kobe finishes with a game-high 35 points on 11-30 shooting, while Durant chips in 28 points, including 6-12 from deep. The duo got hot in the third quarter and hardly slowed down, as they led their team to an exciting 100-90 victory. With only Michael Jordan finding a way to contribute (40 points), and the rest struggling to find their rhythm, Team FW gladly takes the victory and goes away happy.

Michael Jordan and Stephen Curry own Game 2, dropping a combined 70 points on 46% shooting and also adding in 12 combined assists. Despite the presence of LeBron James, MJ controls the offense in an effort to not fall into a 0-2 hole. Team FW once again find their range through Bryant and Durant, but MJ takes over in the second half by finishing with 25 points on 9-15 shooting. This game ends in favor of Curry’s all-time team, 121-105.

Game 3 is all about the bigs, as Kareem and Shaq go toe-to-toe. Shaq finishes with 40 points and 12 rebounds, while Kareem drops 30 and 14 of his own. With the game tied at 100 with a minute remaining in the 4th quarter, Michael Jordan dribbles out of a double-team to find a scrambling Steph Curry for a three-pointer. Team FW tries to answer, but a Shaq block on Kareem ends the game in an exciting fashion. The score ends at 113-111.

Larry Bird completely takes over Game 4, with the small forward feeling it all game long. With all eyes on Kobe, Kareem, and Durant, Bird punishes the opposition. Larry Legend goes ballistic in the fourth, going 5-5 from the three-point line and also coming up with late-game buckets, including back-to-back three-pointers with a minute left. With Bird’s shooting, Team FW ties the series at 2-2 thanks to a 116-110 victory.

The scorers go at it again as MJ and Bryant go toe-to-toe in the second half. Jordan finishes with 40 points against Kobe’s 33, but it takes a wild fadeaway jumper from Bryant over Stephen Curry with 24 seconds remaining to give his side a 2-point margin. Magic finds Curry for a three with 5 seconds remaining, and that goes through. In the timeout, it seems Larry Bird or Kobe will have the final look, but it falls to Kevin Durant. LeBron inbounds to KD, who is switched onto the smaller Seph. KD nudges Steph and rises over him for a swish with 0.5 seconds left. A late tip effort by Shaq just rims out, and Team FW has a 3-2 lead in the series.

Team Curry tries to force a Game 7, and they do it courtesy of a balanced offense. The team shoots 47% as a whole, including 37% from three and 80% from the free-throw line. Magic is the star of the game, finishing with 20 points and 17 assists. Curry leads all scorers with 29 points, Jordan has a triple-double, and Shaq registers a series-high 20 rebounds. Team FW is completely stunned as they are forced to regroup before Game 7, losing 125-103.

The first half starts slow, with both sides ending the second quarter knotted at 60. Bird and LeBron take over in the third, combining for 20 points and 10 rebounds in the quarter alone. Entering the 4th, the game seems out of reach for Team Curry as the score is 100-85. Team Curry tries to respond through MJ and Dirk, but a rampant Larry Bird proves the difference again. With Team Curry roaring back to even the score at 120 with a minute left, Larry once again comes up big with a three-pointer at the shot-clock buzzer and an And-1 to seal the deal in the last possession of the game. Thanks to his incredible shot-making at the end of critical Games 4 and 7, he earns Finals MVP.

Final Result: Team Fadeaway World vs. Stephen Curry Team 4-3

Finals MVP: Larry Bird
